03. I am a recent graduate and would like to obtain membership. How can I proceed?
Yes, you may apply for temporary membership at this stage. Temporary membership can later be upgraded to permanent membership at no additional cost.
As an additional note, we generally recommend gaining at least 1.5 years of professional experience before moving to the UAE.
04. I am a university student. Can I apply for membership?
University students are not eligible to enroll as members. However, you may request access to the Job Seekers Programme. Upon graduation, you may then apply for membership.
Additionally, SLPE plans to introduce a dedicated programme for undergraduate students in the near future.
05. I am a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer. Am I eligible for SLPE membership?
Yes. The UAE construction industry has a demand for MEP planning engineers, and many MEP professionals are already part of the SLPE community.
However, please note that additional effort may be required to develop core civil engineering and project management concepts relevant to planning engineering.
06. I do not have a degree, but I hold a diploma (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical). Can I apply?
Diploma holders are not eligible for full membership. However, you may request access to the Job Seekers Programme.
Upon securing a Planning Engineer position in the UAE, you may subsequently apply for permanent membership, subject to the applicable membership criteria and review process.
07. I have a Civil Engineering degree but do not intend to work as a planning engineer. Can I join?
Yes, you are eligible to apply for membership.
Even if you do not intend to pursue a career as a Planning Engineer, you may join the Foundation Programme, which covers fundamental planning engineering principles supported by practical, real-life examples. This can strengthen your project management awareness and enhance your overall professional competence within the construction industry.
08. I am not currently working as a planning engineer but plan to change my career. Can I join?
Yes. Professionals working as Site Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, or Quantity Surveyors may apply for temporary membership. Once you secure a planning engineer role, you can request an upgrade to permanent membership.
09. Do you provide job opportunities in the UAE?
No. SLPE is a professional organization established for the benefit and development of its members.
While SLPE does not directly provide job placements, following SLPE guidance and professional development pathways can significantly support your efforts to secure employment in the UAE.
10. I am currently job-seeking. Can I access SLPE materials before joining?
Unfortunately, no. This is against SLPE guidelines.
We recommend applying for temporary membership now and upgrading to permanent membership once you secure employment.
11. I have submitted the Google Form. What happens next?
Our team will review your application and contact you within a maximum of three (3) working days.
Once approved, you will receive a payment link through the official SLPE portal.
12. Can I transfer the membership fee directly to a bank account?
No. To ensure transparency and proper record-keeping, all payments must be made through the official payment portal.
13. I have completed the payment. What should I do next?

Once payment is verified, our team will contact you and provide the necessary access and membership credentials.
14. I currently hold a temporary membership and have secured a job. How do I request permanent membership and an ID?
Once you have secured employment in the UAE, please contact us to initiate the process for upgrading to permanent membership and obtaining your official membership ID.
Your request will be reviewed in accordance with the applicable membership criteria and verification requirements.
